In collaboration with Anderson’s Bookshop, Katherine Marsh, award-winning author, came to speak today. She engaged the students in a presentation that included information on her family’s history in Ukraine, writing, and her new book. She was amazing!

Congratulations to Mr. Ohlsen and the Lakeview Jr. High School Jazz Band students on their fantastic performance tonight at the DGS Jazz Cafe. The played with great passion and enthusiasm. We are so proud of the work this group has done in the short time they have been working together. The Lakeview Jazz Band is back! The Copycat class has making great restaurant inspired recipes all quarter long. This week the students have been working hard on cake pops! Students baked from scratch cake and frosting. Today they finally were able to decorate. All of the students have been doing so well!
Fun filled day in FACS. The Emporium class made homemade lip balm today. We've been making a variety of personal care products this quarter mostly from ingredients in your pantry.

We would like to invite our community of families and friends to join us on two special evenings to celebrate the talants of our band and choir students in District 66.
December 12th and 13th will feature our Prairieview Band and Choir and the Lakeview Bands and Choir. We invite you to come and support our young music students who have been working hard through adversity over the past 3 years. We cannot wait to share our music with you. This is our first public performance this year and we want to share it with you. We hope to see you there.

Lakeview French Horn Student selected to All Illinois Jr. Band!
Congratulations to Lydia, 8th grade French Horn player on being selected to the All Illinois Jr. Band (AIJB). This is quite an honor. Lydia was selected through a competitive blind audition process. Over 180 students auditioned for a spot in this ensemble where approximately 80 students were selected. Lydia will travel to the University of Illinois in Champagne on January 20 and 21 where she will work with other talented students from across the state and prepare a special performance.
Contratulations Lydia! The entire District 66 Family is proud of you. You will represent our band program and school well. Bravo!

Happy Halloween Everyone! On Friday 10/28, the 6th grade concert band performed for the Prairieview students. We had so much fun sharing our music with them and showing how much fun band can be.
